Term 2 - Publisher and Internet Research
Ex.53: 53 Voyager (creating a newlsetter in Publisher) - 11/16 - 11/17/11
In the assignment, we learned the basics of microsoft publisher, which included learning how to add, and remove pages, create text boxes, and inserting drop caps. The assignment required little more than basic understanding of microsoft office, as it was merely an introduction to publisher. Skills froms Microsoft Word did help with the assignment, as there was much overlap between the two programs. As an introduction to microsoft publisher, the assignment taught me the basic functions of the program. For example, through this assignment, I learned how to select a template, add/remove pages, and insert drop caps. Many of the other skills I used during the assignment, however, were attained from microsoft word. Overal, I felt as if I had used the decorative features of text boxes effectively - especially when it came to creating borders. I also felt the insertion of drop caps created a pleasant aesthetic effect. To be frank, I feel as if this assignment was one of my better ones, and given the opprotunity to improve it, I would probably leave it as is.
Career Research Steps 1 - 8 - 11/18 - 12/13/12
In the assignment, we were required to identify our personality type, and to create a report on a selection of jobs that we found interesting. We were also required to research these jobs using various mediums, including an online government database. Unlike most assignments, this required tremendous research skills; I also incorporated skills from earlier on in the course, such as implementing hyperlinks that linked to other parts of the document, creating drop caps, and the ilk. The diacritical facet of this assignment, as opposed to others, was that it infused a wide array of topics; one could say that this was the most learning-heavy topic in the course. Aside from learning about several jobs that struck me as interesting, I also learned about my personality type, what types of career's I find financially plausible, and hopefully, my future profession. I felt that my analysis and written reports were well done, and in depth, as well as the results of my research. I feel so strongly about the analysis and written report (as well as the research), because afterwards, I felt comfortable explaining the dimensions of the careers I chose. If I were to go back, I would change the writing in the assignment. I feel as if my writing at the time was amateur, and overly verbose for a report that was supposed to document research.
